Getting Started with Downloadable Books is Easy

Step 1: Download and install free software from NH Downloadable Books.
You will  use  OverDrive Media Console software for Windows and Mac computers, and mobile devices using Android, Blackberry, iPhone/iPad, and Windows Phone operating systems.
To use the Downloadable eBooks in EPUB format with an ereader (except Kindle) or on a computer, you will also need Adobe Digital Editions. You will need to sign up for a free Adobe ID to use EPUB eBooks on any device.
To use the Downloadable eBooks in EPUB format on your mobile device, you only need to install the Overdrive Media Console mobile app.
To use the Downloadable eBooks in Kindle ebook format, you will need a Kindle or Kindle app on your computer or mobile device.
In order to use Downloadable Audiobooks, you will need either Windows Media Player or iTunes.
Step 2: Activate the software
Step 3: Check out, download, and enjoy

You can have 3 downloadable items checked out at a time.
Audiobooks are checked out for 1 week.
 eBooks have a 2 week lending period and they can be returned early.
You can place up to holds on items that are checked out. When the item is available to be checked out you will receive an email. You will need to check out your reserved book within 48 hours.

Compatible eBook devices include Nook, Sony eReader, iPhone, iPod & iTouch, Kobo eReaders.  See a complete list of compatible devices here. Kindle has just become a compatible device. You should know that NH librarians have concerns about your privacy when downloading books onto your Kindle. The Dover Public Library guarantees the confidentiality of your library account per RSA 201-D:11 as it applies to our automated library system and services we provide. However, you are not guaranteed privacy through the OverDrive Downloadable Service and specifically eBook downloading from a third party vendor such as Amazon. Please be aware that your information may not be held confidential through this service.
