Story Times
2012-13
 

If Dover public schools close due to inclement weather, all children's programming will be cancelled.

Times for Stories

Story Times are offered from September to June in 5 different sessions.
Each session lasts 5 weeks.

For 2-year-olds there are 2 different times to choose from:
     Thursday morning  9:30-10:30
     Friday morning  9:30-10:30

For children ages 3-6 there are 3 different times to choose from:
     Monday afternoon  1:30- 2:15
     Monday night (Bedtime)- 7:00- 7:45
     Tuesday morning  9:30-10:15

 *Drop-in Story Times:
In addition to the above story times, we will be offering a "drop-in" story time every Wednesday morning @ 9:30am.  All are welcome!

Story Times for Toddlers

 These story times are intended for toddlers and parents to share. They are not meant to be family story hours, and the finger plays, songs and books are selected for a toddler's developmental level. If there are siblings, please make child care arrangements so you and your toddler can fully enjoy this special time together.

Time is allowed at the beginning of each session for listening to music and reading with mom or dad. There is time at the end of each session to explore the props, projects and books and for parents to chat and share parenting concerns.

A child must be at least 2 years old by the first day of the session he or she wishes to attend. 3-year-olds who are not quite ready to attend Story Time without a parent are welcome, too.

Story Times for 3-6 year-olds

 Children ages 3-6 are invited to attend 45-minute programs which include stories, finger plays, songs and puppets. Crafts and films are also offered several times each session.

Each group is limited to 20 children, and parents remain outside the story room. A child must be at least 3 years old by the first day of the session he or she wishes to attend.
 

Register or "Drop-in"

 Story Time enrollment is limited to Dover Public Library card holders' children.
"Drop-in" story times are open to all--no registration required

Registration is required for each session and may be done in person or by phone.  Story Times fill up quickly, so plan to call or come to the Children's Room as soon as possible after registration begins.  Parents will only be permitted to register their own children. Once a Story Time is filled, we will add up to 5 names on the waiting list.

      *Sign-up begins at 9:00a.m. (in person) and at 9:15 a.m. (for phone calls) for all groups!

   Registration begins Monday, October 29
(No Story Times on November 12, Veterans' Day;

   Registration begins Tuesday, January 7
(No Story Times on January 21, Martin Luther King Day)

Session IV---March 4-April 5
   Registration begins Tuesday, February 19

Session V---April 29-May 31
    Registration begins Monday, April 15
(No Story Time on May 27,  Memorial Day)
