HOW TO GET A LIBRARY CARD

join.gif (9653 bytes)

Dover children ages 5 through grade 6 may apply for and be issued their own library card in the Children’s Room. The application must be signed by the child’s parent or guardian who assumes responsibility for the child’s borrowing.  Non-resident cards are given to children whose parents have purchased a family card.

Non-resident children attending public schools in Dover are issued a free library card at school.

Non-resident children attending a private school in Dover may purchase a student card for $80 per year.

You are responsible for all items checked out on your library card; notify the Library immediately if your card is lost or stolen. There is a $2.00 replacement fee for lost cards.

The Library does not charge for days that we are closed. Patrons also have one grace day.

A fine of 25 cents per item per day is assessed on overdue materials up to a maximum fine of $10.00 per item.

Once an item is 2 weeks overdue, we will notify you by phone or mail (or sooner if you have e-mail).

We will send a bill approximately 5 weeks after the item’s  due date if it has not been returned. You will be charged a $10.00 fine and a $1.00 processing fee per item. If any item is not returned after billing, you will be charged the replacement cost of that item.

Do you have e-mail?  E-mail notices are sent a few days before your items are due!  Also, overdue notices are sent much faster by e-mail.
