Pre-school Education Booklets

Every year the Children’s Room updates its booklet “Pre-school Education in Dover” with full descriptions of many Dover nursery schools and kindergartens.  This booklet, published by the Children’s Room since 1977, is prefaced with guidelines for choosing a pre-school.  It also includes a listing of additional pre-schools and day care services located outside of Dover and information from UNH Child Care Resource and Referral.

Copies of the booklet are available for borrowing.  Also, the booklet may be accessed on the Children's Room website for viewing &/or downloading (see the "Parents' Place" section or click here).

Museum Passes The Dover Public Library Children's Room provides free and/or reduced rate passes to six exciting regional museums.  Patrons may reserve these passes ahead of time by calling or stopping by the children's room.

Display Walls

Artwork from Dover pre-schools, child care centers and elementary schools is displayed on the Children’s Art Wall located in the hallway near the elevator.  Parents may want to check out their children's art or get ideas for art projects they can do with their children at home.

Special displays are showcased monthly on our large display wall in the Children's Room.  Books, DVDs, music, and craft samples on a selected theme are highlighted.

Parents are also encouraged to browse through our separate holiday craft notebooks if they’re looking for ideas on making homemade crafts or costumes.

Bulletin Board

Our  community information board, located just inside the Children’s Room, is another place to check for announcements of area activities for children and families.

Library Computers

Adults accompanied by children are invited to use the internet computers in the Children's Room.  Search the web, type a paper, format a resume, etc., while the children play or read.
