Friends of the Dover Public Library
Who are the Friends?
Friends are ordinary people like you and me who care about libraries and are interested in promoting and enhancing library resources. Friends are people who know that any community is a better place to live if that community has a first-rate library which serves its needs and interests.
Our goals are:
*To create public support and good public relations for our library;
*To encourage greater use of the library and its services;
*To sponsor programs that contribute to Dover’s educational and
cultural life;
*To encourage gifts, endowments and memorials.The Friends can only achieve our goals with your support.
Since their inception in 1977, the Friends of the Dover Public Library have raised thousands of dollars for library equipment and signage, for computers, for furnishings, and for annual passes to local, area, and Boston museums.
The Friends have sponsored countless educational and cultural programs, slide shows, concerts & authors’ visits. Additionally, they host the library’s annual book sale each October and prepare delicious refreshments and baked goods for many library programs.
Everyone needs a friend, even your library. Won’t you join us?
You can give as little or as much time as you want. You can participate once a year or be active throughout the year, or work on a specific program or event.
The Friends of the Library meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month (excluding July, August, & December) at 1:00PM in the Trustees Room at the library. Click here to download an application for membership.
