The
Historical |
The Library's local history and
genealogy collection is located on our top floor.
The Historical Room houses over 6000 books, pamphlets, maps, and photographs covering not
only Dover, but also the entire state of New Hampshire, southern Maine, and northern
Massachusetts. These items provide a wealth of information about old Dover history and
regional families beginning in 1623. Dover newspapers as far back as 1823 are available on
microfilm. This collection is ranked as one of the top four historical inventories in New
Hampshire.
All materials in the Historical Room are non circulating. The Dover Public Library charges a $5.00 non-refundable fee, to non DPL card holders, for historical and genealogical research. This fee is payable in advance and includes up to 10 photocopies.
